It’s my pleasure to announce National Palliative Care Week 2011 which will take

place between 22 – 28 May. This is one of the biggest events in PCA’s calendar

for the year and we look forward to a successful campaign.

This year’s theme is

with many opportunities to make a positive impact on our lives, the lives of our

loved ones, and those in our communities.

We want to send a positive message that it is ok to chat about dying, and in

doing so, we are provided with great opportunities – the opportunity to

choose to

that our life’s end is near, or even when we are just thinking ahead; the

opportunity to make choices that

opportunity to make choices that make the journey

leading to good grieving.

I encourage you to promote National Palliative Care Week within your

communities and workplaces, so that we can start to realise these opportunities

and work to break down the barriers to accessing quality care at the end of life

for all.

I thank you in advance for your participation in National

Palliative Care Week and for your assistance in making it a

success. Together we can realise quality care at the end of life

for all Australians.
